Smart & Sophisticated Video with Avigilon ACC7

Video management technology has completely transformed within the past decade. The sophistication and quality of these systems has greatly improved security across all industry types, and it’s only going to improve from here.

Motorola Solutions continues to exceed expectations with new, innovative updates to its communication and technology systems, and video management is no exception. Avigilon Control Center (ACC) 7 is the latest and most advanced version of ACC™ video management software, which leverages machine learning to bring you more accurate data in less time.

Several features of Avigilon outshine traditional methods and trump other solutions on the market. ACC7 combines two-way radio technology and video management software to provide more accessible security monitoring, swift real-time alerts, and accurate data cross-referencing for businesses across the greater Boston metropolitan area. Explore the incredible capabilities of Avigilon technology below.

Unusual Motion Detection: Spotting the Odd One Out

Machine learning algorithms are transforming the ways technology assists us with myriad tasks, from Google searches to security breaches. The smart video uses AI to help detect suspicious or criminal behaviors based on what is deemed to be otherwise “normal activity.”

During its first two weeks of operation, after the system has been installed on your premises, Avigilon’s self-learning technology collects data from its video feeds and learns to identify “normal activity” for the area. Normalcy is determined by analyzing the speed, direction, type of motion, and time of day. As this data is harvested, Avigilon’s complex algorithms can help discern whether a recorded activity deviates from the norm or presents a cause for concern.

For example, if the activity is detected after regular business hours, Avigilon will identify this as a potential security threat and automatically trigger an alert to notify the appropriate staff members.

Focus of Attention: Alerts at a Glance

Large corporations and multi-building facilities are at greater risk for security breaches and need to be equipped with more security cameras than the average user. Having a sufficient number of cameras to cover the scope of a building is only half the battle—the live footage must also be monitored.

Traditionally, having more security cameras on premises called for hiring more operators to survey and assess the footage. Monitors became easily cluttered with multiple, simultaneous camera feeds, making it difficult to discern which, if any, were catching suspicious activity.

Avigilon’s Focus of Attention feature provides a supplemental view that condenses camera feeds into color-coded, easily accessible icons. Using touch screen controls, operators can tap into different camera feeds by selecting categorized, honeycomb-shaped icons. With the use of Unusual Motion Detection, the color of each icon will change to indicate the probability of a suspicious event being recorded.

For example, if a highly suspicious motion is detected on one camera feed, its corresponding icon will change to the color red, indicating its urgency to operators.

Video analytics are capable of prioritizing the most important information or footage, allowing businesses to install more cameras in their facility without requiring more operators. With Avigilon’s dashboard, there’s no need for multiple camera feeds or cluttered, distracting monitors.

Appearance Search: Where’s Waldo?

Say there’s a suspect on the loose. You don’t have many details on them, but you do have some basic identifiers from a bit of video footage from the scene of the crime.

ACC7’s Appearance Search uses machine learning to identify people, vehicles, or other objects of interest across an entire network of active cameras.  It can assess textural qualities—such as color, size, and shape—to help narrow down the search and return results more quickly. So, if your suspect is a tall, Caucasian male with a red hat, Appearance Search can use each of these identifiers to comb through footage in search of the wanted man.

This feature also allows users to receive and acknowledge ACCTM alarms from their MOTOTRBO radio system. This allows security personnel to be notified through their MOTOTRBO radios so that when analytics events or access control events occur, they can investigate without needing a computer in front of them.

Operators can also retrieve any live or past instances of the suspect in a video feed, which can help law enforcement to intercept them before they get away.
